1882   Egidio Galbani founds the "Caseificio Davide Galbani" in Ballabio,Valsassina, Here, the famous "Robiola" is produced, the first Italian soft cheese born to compete with luxury french cheeses
1906   Bel Paese is born: the first true Italian cheese, it finds great success abroad.
1910   In Melzo, the first major dairy of Galbani is built, which will be linked to much of the company's history.
1920s   The family company becomes Egidio Galbani S.p.A and continues its growth, with the opening of new plants and the production of processed cheeses according to very innovative methods for the Italian dairy industry at the time
1930s   Galbani counts more than 1000 workers with 56 stores, and 4 subsidiaries abroad. Galbani continues to innovate, introducing a number of new products to the market and launching Crescenza Certosa.
1936   The company enters into the cured meat industry buying "Salumificio Melzese".
1956   The first industrially produced mozzarella, Santa Lucia, is born. The famous tagline "Galbani vuol dire fiducia", meaning "Galbani means trust", becomes one of the most well known taglines in Italy.
1960s   Galbani opens its new headquarters in Milan. It is a period particularly successful for the distribution, production and marketing of the company's brands.
1980s   A new plant in Melzo is built,completely dedicated to the production of cold meat.
1989   Galbani joins the Danone Group and reinforces its position in the European market.
1990   The Vallelata brand is born.
2002   On the 120th anniversary of its birth, Galbani returns to independent management. The BC Partner Fund acquires all assets and ensures continuity of management.
2004   BiG and BiG Logistica are born. These two group companies distribute and sell all the Galbani products in Italy.
2005   Creation of the group holding company, Gruppo Galbani.
2006   Gruppo Galbani becomes a part of the French Group, Lactalis.
2008   Gruppo Lactalis Italia is born. This Group runs the most important brand portfolio of Italian cheeses, which are sold under the umbrella brand Galbani across the globe.
